The field was always so close together. Until the last shooting it was impossible to say who would win the 12.5 km pursuit in Nove Mesto. In the end it was the Norwegian Tarjei Boe who finished ahead of his brother Johannes Thingnes Boe. The Boedium was perfect. Both Norwegians made one mistake in the first shooting (Tarjei Boe) and even two mistakes (J.T. Boe), but were able to stay clear in the other three shootings and thus secured the first two places. Third went to sprint winner Simon Desthieux from France, who again ran a very good race. He also made two mistakes, but was able to fight his way back to the front in the standing shooting. Flawless at the shooting range was Jakov Fak from Slovenia who finished fourth due to this perfect performance. Until the end the chasers of the two Boe brothers delivered an exciting race, Sturla Holm Laegreid crossed the finish line in fifth place less than one second behind Fak, directly behind him Quentin Fillon-Maillet ahead of his French team-mate Emilien Jacquelin. With Benedikt Doll in eighth place, Arnd Peiffer in tenth place and Erik Lesser in 15th place, the German men again showed a very good overall performance. Peiffer shot himself out of a better ranking with three misses, and there was a big jump forward for Philipp Nawrath who fought his way up from rank 53 to 29. For the relay winner it’s back to Obertilliach after this race as he still has promising chances for the IBU World Cup.

Results 12.5 km pursuit men, Nove Mesto:

1

BÖ Tarjei

1+0+0+0

28:17.3

2

BÖ Johannes Thingnes

2+0+0+0

+8.2

3

DESTHIEUX Simon

0+2+0+0

+11.5

1

BÖ Tarjei

1+0+0+0

28:17.3

2

BÖ Johannes Thingnes

2+0+0+0

+8.2

3

DESTHIEUX Simon

0+2+0+0

+11.5

Foto: Soelzer via VOIGT Fotografie

The second pursuit race of the day could hardly have been more exciting.
