On the first day of the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf the first decisions in cross-country skiing and in women’s ski jumping were scheduled.<\/p>\n
In the women’s and men’s cross-country events the sprint races took place. It was a successful start especially for the Norwegian team. Although Sweden’s Jonna Sundling was able to stand at the top of the podium in the women’s race, the Norwegian women occupied promising places overall. Second place went to the Norwegian Maiken Caspersen Falla, followed by Slovenia’s Anamarija Lampic. Fourth place again went to Sweden, this place was secured by Johanna Hagstroem ahead of the two Norwegians Ane Appelkvist Stenseth and Tiril Udnes Weng. Best German was Laura Gimmler on a good tenth place, ahead of the strong Linn Svahn from Sweden.<\/p>\n
Johannes Klaebo from Norway showed his extra class on the first day of the 53rd Nordic World Ski Championships 2021 in the Ried Stadium in Oberstdorf and won the men’s sprint in classic style in spring-like temperatures. He successfully defended his World Championship title from last year.\u00a0Already in the qualification he ran in his own league, and could put here already a first exclamation mark on a successful title defense. Also very strong was the performance of Erik Valnes, who sprinted to silver place.\u00a0Halvard Taugboel completed the Norwegian podium with the bronze medal.\u00a0Alexander Bolshunov of Russia finished fourth, 5.92 seconds behind, and his teammate Sergei Ustiugov was fifth in the men’s sprint final. Especially the Norwegian and Russian cross-country skiers showed their special team performance in the first race.<\/p>\n

Women’s ski jumping with gold for Ema Klinec<\/h5>\n
The 22-year-old Ema Klinec wins the first World Championship title on the normal hill, the Schattenberg hill, in the Audi Arena at the first ski jumping decision of the Nordic World Ski Championships Oberstdorf 2021. With jumps of 105 meters and 100.5 meters she wins the first medal ever at a World Championship for the Slovenian team.\u00a0When the leader Marita Kramer from the first round with a new hill record (109 meters) unfortunately could not withstand the pressure and only finished fourth in the final round the surprise was perfect.\u00a0For defending champion Maren Lundby, who came back recovered from her little form slump, she won silver with jumps of 102.5 meters and 99.5 meters.\u00a0Sara Takanashi, with 60 World Cup victories one of the most successful ski jumpers and co-favorite for the gold medal, after her jump already out of the medal ranks, could still get the bronze medal due to the weak jump of Marita Kramer.\u00a0As the best German, Katharina Althaus finished in 10th place.<\/p>\n
I am totally overwhelmed what happened today. After my good first jump I was able to follow up with a good jump in the second round, so I was sure to win a medal.\u00a0But to win gold here is the biggest success for me so far. Now we will try to bring another good result in the team competition.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Nordische Ski-WM in Oberstdorf<\/h5>\n
Am ersten Tag der Nordischen Ski WM in Oberstdorf standen die ersten Entscheidungen im Langlauf und im Skispringen der Damen an.<\/p>\n
Bei den Frauen und Herren im Langlauf fanden jeweils die Sprintrennen statt. Es war vor allem f\u00fcr die norwegische Mannschaft ein erfolgreicher Auftakt. Konnte bei den Frauen zwar die Schwedin Jonna Sundling ganz oben auf dem Podest stehen, die norwegischen Frauen belegten jedoch insgesamt aussichtsreiche Pl\u00e4tze. So ging der zweite Platz an die Norwegerin Maiken Caspersen Falla, gefolgt von der Slowenien Anamarija Lampic. Rang vier ging erneut nach Schweden, diesen Platz konnte sich Johanna Hagstroem vor den beiden Norwegerinnen Ane Appelkvist Stenseth und Tiril Udnes Weng sichern. Beste Deutsche war Laura Gimmler auf einem guten zehnten Platz, noch vor der starken Linn Svahn aus Schweden.<\/p>\n

Damit verteidigt er erfolgreich seinen WM-Titel aus dem Vorjahr.\u00a0Bereits in der Qualifikation lief er in seiner eigenen Liga, und konnte hier bereits ein erstes Ausrufezeichen auf eine erfolgreiche Titelverteidigung setzen. Ebenfalls sehr stark die Vorstellung von Erik Valnes, der auf den Silberrang sprintete.\u00a0Halvard Taugboel komplettierte mit der Bronzemedaille das norwegische Siegerpodest.\u00a0Alexander Bolshunov aus Russland belegte mit einem R\u00fcckstand von 5,92 Sekunden Platz vier, sein Teamkollege\u00a0Sergej Ustiugov wurde im Herrensprint Finale f\u00fcnfter. Ich bin total \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigt was heute passiert ist. Nach meinem guten ersten Sprung konnte ich im zweiten Durchgang einen guten Sprung nachlegen, und hatte somit eine Medaille sicher.\u00a0Hier aber Gold zu holen ist f\u00fcr mich der bislang gr\u00f6\u00dfte Erfolg. Wir werden jetzt versuchen im Teamspringen ein weiteres gutes Resultat zu bringen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
