Sturla Holm Laegreid has been the new discovery of this season so far and could also convince with his top performances at the 52nd Biathlon World Championships in Pokljuka, Slovenia.\u00a0The 24-year-old could already cheer in the 20 km individual race and was also the strongest in the field of the 30 best athletes in the last race, the 15 km mass start. With one shooting mistake but a very strong overall race time, he was able to win his second individual gold medal. In total he could take home four gold medals at his first World Championships.\u00a0With Johannes Dale, another young Norwegian was able to earn a place on the podium. He prevailed in the final round against his strong competition and took the silver medal, ahead of Quentin Fillon Maillet of France. For Johannes Dale, who had to take a break in the relay, it was his second medal of this World Cup.\u00a0World Cup leader Johannes Thingnes Boe, on the other hand, had certainly hoped for more, but he did not win the individual gold medal, which he certainly had in mind, and had to settle for eighth place, two places behind his brother Tarjei. Jakov Fak from Slovenia was able to secure a good fifth place at the World Championships in his home country. Alexander Loginov from Russia completed the top 10 ranks with his ninth place.<\/p>\n

So slowly it is getting scary for me. To win four gold medals here is like a dream.\u00a0I knew that I am in good shape, but that I could show such performances here was not expected in any way. Now everything is just another encore.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I wanted to prove to everyone on the last day that I can tear myself apart and give everything, and I did that today and was rewarded with silver. After not getting a relay start I was really fired up today, now I am just happy about this medal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Erfolgreiche WM f\u00fcr Sturla Holm Laegreid<\/h4>\n

Sturla Holm Laegreid war bislang die Neuentdeckung dieser Saison und konnte auch bei den 52. Biathlon Weltmeisterschaften im slowenischen Pokljuka mit seinen Spitzenleistungen mehr als \u00fcberzeugen.\u00a0Der 24-j\u00e4hrige konnte bereits im 20 km Einzelrennen jubeln und war auch beim letzten Rennen, dem 15 km Massenstart, der st\u00e4rkste im Feld der 30 besten Athleten. Mit einem Schie\u00dffehler jedoch einer sehr starken Laufzeit konnte er sich souver\u00e4n durchsetzen und holte sich sein zweites Einzelgold. In der Summe konnte er viermal Gold bei seinen ersten Weltmeisterschaften mit nach Hause nehmen.\u00a0Mit Johannes Dale konnte ein weiterer junger Norweger sich einen Podestplatz erk\u00e4mpfen. Er setzte sich in der Schlussrunde gegen seine starke Konkurrenz durch und holte sich die Silbermedaille, vor dem Franzosen Quentin Fillon Maillet. F\u00fcr Johannes Dale, der in der Staffel pausieren musste, war es damit seine zweite Medaille dieser WM.\u00a0Weltcup-F\u00fchrender Johannes Thingnes Boe hatte sich hingegen sicherlich mehr erhofft, f\u00fcr ihn blieb Einzelgold aus, was er sicherlich auf seiner Rechnung hatte, und musste sich mit dem achten Platz zufrieden geben, zwei Pl\u00e4tze hinter seinem Bruder Tarjei. Der Slowene Jakov Fak konnte sich einen guten f\u00fcnften Platz sichern, bei der WM in seiner Heimat. Alexander Loginov aus Russland vervollst\u00e4ndigte mit seinem neunten Platz die Top 10 R\u00e4nge.<\/p>\n

So langsam wird es unheimlich f\u00fcr mich. Hier viermal Gold mitzunehmen, ist wie ein Traum.\u00a0Ich wusste, dass ich gut in Form bin, aber dass ich hier solche Leistungen abrufen konnte war in keiner Weise zu erwarten. Jetzt ist alles weitere Zugabe.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ich wollte allen am letzten Tag beweisen, dass ich mich zerrei\u00dfen und alles geben kann, und das habe ich heute getan und wurde mit Silber belohnt. Nachdem ich keinen Staffeleinsatz bekam, war ich heute richtig hei\u00df auf den Start, jetzt bin ich \u00fcber diese Medaille nur gl\u00fccklich.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
