Second World Championship Gold for Tiril Eckhoff<\/h4>\n

After her victory with the 4 x6 km mixed relay, Tiril Eckhoff succeeded in her second strike at the Biathlon World Championships in Pokljuka, Slovenia. In the 7.5 km women’s sprint she completely deserved to win the World Championship title with a perfect running performance and a perfect shooting, and took her second World Championship gold. The silver rank was achieved by Anais Chevalier-Bouchet from France, ahead of Hanna Sola from Belarus, who surprisingly won bronze.\u00a0Completely exhausted and totally worn out, the new sprint world champion laid at the finish line and could hardly believe her luck after this world-class performance.\u00a0Best German was Denise Hermann, who had entered the race as one of the co-favorites and finished fourth, 17.6 seconds behind.\u00a0Defending champion Marte Olsbu R\u00f8iseland from Norway, who had a good chance to win a medal after the first shooting, missed two standing targets and finished sixth, 40 seconds behind the new world champion.<\/p>\n

IT WAS NOT EASY TO COMPETE TODAY BECAUSE THE WIND CONDITIONS WERE CONSTANTLY CHANGING, ESPECIALLY AT THE SHOOTING RANGE. I TOOK MY TIME WITH THE SECOND SHOT DURING MY STANDING SHOOTING AND DIDN’T WANT TO TAKE ANY RISKS. THIS WAS THE RIGHT DECISION.\u00a0ACTUALLY, I’M ON TARGET WITH MY MEDAL COUNT, BUT I’D LIKE TO ADD A FEW MORE, THE NEXT CHANCE WILL BE TOMORROW IN THE PURSUIT.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Zweites WM Gold f\u00fcr Tiril Eckhoff<\/h4>\n

Nach ihrem Sieg mit der 4 x6 km Mixed-Staffel gelang Tiril Eckhoff ihr zweiter Streich bei der Biathlon WM im slowenischen Pokljuka. Im 7,5 km Damensprint sicherte sie sich v\u00f6llig verdient den Weltmeistertitel durch eine perfekte Laufleistung und ein perfektes Schie\u00dfen, und holte ihr zweites WM Gold. Den Silberrang erzielte Anais Chevalier-Bouchet aus Frankreich, vor Hanna Sola aus Belarus, die \u00fcberraschend Bronze gewinnen konnte.\u00a0V\u00f6llig ausgepumpt und total verausgabt lag die neue Sprintweltmeisterin im Ziel und konnte nach dieser Weltklasseleistung ihr Gl\u00fcck kaum fassen.\u00a0Beste Deutsche war Denise Hermann, die als eine der Mitfavoriten ins Rennen gegangen war, und mit 17,6 Sekunden R\u00fcckstand den vierten Platz \u00a0belegte.\u00a0Titelverteidigerin Marte Olsbu R\u00f8iseland aus Norwegen, nach dem ersten Schie\u00dfen noch aussichtsreich auf einem Medaillenplatz liegend, leistete sich stehend zwei Strafrunden und belegte mit einem R\u00fcckstand von 40 Sekunden auf die neue Weltmeisterin den sechsten Platz.<\/p>\n

Es war heute nicht einfach zu laufen, da sich die Windverh\u00e4ltnisse st\u00e4ndig \u00e4nderten, vor allem am Schie\u00dfstand. Bei meinem Stehendschie\u00dfen habe ich mir beim zweiten Schuss extrem viel Zeit gelassen und wollte kein Risiko eingehen. Dies war die richtige Entscheidung.\u00a0Eigentlich bin ich von der Medaillenausbeute voll im Soll, doch es k\u00f6nnen gerne noch einige dazukommen, die n\u00e4chste Chance habe ich morgen in der Verfolgung.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
