Julia Simon wins final sprint in mass start<\/h4>\n

The third day of competition at the Biathlon World Cup in Antholz started with two dress rehearsals for the Biathlon World Championships in Pokljuka. First it was the turn of the women in the 12.5 km mass start, where the winner was Julia Simon. Hanna Oeberg, Julia Simon and Lisa Theresa Hauser were the three who started the sprint to the finish line, which was finally won by Julia Simon just a few seconds ahead of Hanna Oeberg. Shortly before, Lisa Theresa Hauser had to let go and ended up once again on the podium in third place.<\/p>\n

Best German in fourth place with a constant performance was Franziska Preuss. Julia Simon once again delivered a world-class performance, despite a fall and three penalty loops she didn’t let herself be distracted and skied from 20th place after the first shooting to victory. For her it was already the second mass start success this season after her victory in Oberhof. Marte Olsu in seventh place still maintains the lead in the overall World Cup ahead of her team mate Tiril Eckhoff who finished one place behind her in eighth position. Evgeniya Pavlova finished 11th, 13th place went to Karoline Knotten, who was the only athlete to deliver a flawless shooting performance.
\nFor Justine Braisaz from France it was again enough for a result among the top twenty with 14th place.<\/p>\n

I AM SIMPLY SPEECHLESS THAT IT WAS STILL ENOUGH TO WIN TODAY. THREE PENALTY LAPS AND THE CRASH WERE SIMPLY TOO MUCH FOR ME TO WIN HERE…..EVEN IF IT WAS CLOSE. I JUST KEPT FIGHTING, WAS SUDDENLY BACK IN THE RACE AND WAS REWARDED WITH THE VICTORY.“<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Team France wins the men’s relay<\/h4>\n

This race was not for the faint-hearted, the suspense was unparalleled until the end of the 4 x 7.5 km men’s relay in Antholz. Early on the Norwegians seemed to be out of the race after Johannes Dale weakened as already in the relay in Oberhof and had to ski once in the penalty loop. But the Norwegians were lucky to have the two Boe brothers in their ranks who brought their team back strongly into the race and competed for the victory. But final skier Johannes Thingnes Boe could not withstand the pressure of Emilien Jacquelin in the final phase and had to admit defeat by a narrow margin. The same run-in for first place as in the relay race in Oberhof. Team Russia around their two top skiers Anton Babikov and Alexander Loginov, who were in the lead until the last transition, had to pay tribute to the high pace, but finished a deserved third place. The DSV quartet, which fought for the medals for a long time, finished fourth. For Team Norway it was the next relay race after Oberhof that could not be won. In the line-up Antonin Guigonnant, Quentin Fillon Mailett, Simon Desthieux and Emilien Jacquelin the French relay team is the first contender for the world championship title in Pokljuka and is the very strong favorite.<\/p>\n

Julia Simon gewinnt Zielsprint im Massenstart<\/h4>\n
Der dritte Wettkampftag beim Biathlon Weltcup in Antholz startet mit zwei Generalproben f\u00fcr die Biathlon WM in Pokljuka. So waren zuerst die Damen mit dem 12,5 Km Massenstart an der Reihe, wo die Siegerin Julia Simon hie\u00df.<\/div>\n

Zu dritt zogen Hanna Oeberg, Julia Simon und Lisa Theresa Hauser den Zielsprint an, den sich schlu\u00dfendlich Julia Simon hauchd\u00fcnn vor Hanna Oeberg sichern konnte. Kurz vorher musste Lisa Theresa Hauser abrei\u00dfen lassen und landete abermals als Drittplatzierte auf dem Podium.<\/p>\n

Beste Deutsche auf Platz vier mit einer konstanten Leistung wurde Franziska Preuss. Julia Simon lieferte wieder einmal mehr eine Weltklasse Laufleitung ab, lie\u00df sich trotz Sturz und drei aufgebrummter Strafrunden nicht aus dem Konzept bringen und lief von Platz 20 nach dem ersten Schie\u00dfen noch zum Sieg. F\u00fcr sie war es bereits nach ihrem Sieg in Oberhof der zweite Massenstart Erfolg dieser Saison. Marte Olsu Roiseland auf Platz sieben behauptet weiterhin die F\u00fchrung im Gesamtweltcup vor ihrer Teamkollegin Tiril Eckhoff, die einen Platz hinter ihr als Achte ins Ziel kam. Platz 11 belegte Evgeniya Pavlova, der 13. Platz ging an Karoline Knotten, die als einzige Athletin eine fehlerfreie Schie\u00dfleistung ablieferte. F\u00fcr Justine Braisaz aus Frankreich reichte es mit Platz 14 wieder zu einem Ergebnis unter den zwanzig Besten.<\/p>\n

Ich bin einfach nur sprachlos, dass es heute noch zum Sieg gereicht hat. Drei Strafrunden und der Sturz waren einfach zu viel um hier noch gewinnen zu k\u00f6nnen…..wenn auch knapp. Ich habe einfach weitergek\u00e4mpft, \u00a0war auf einmal wieder im Rennen und wurde mit dem Sieg belohnt.\u201c<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Team Frankreich gewinnt die M\u00e4nner-Staffel<\/h4>\n

Dieses Rennen war nichts f\u00fcr schwache Nerven, die Spannung war bis zum Schluss der 4 x 7,5 Km Herrenstaffel von Antholz nicht zum \u00fcberbieten. Fr\u00fch schienen sich die Norweger aus dem Rennen geschossen zu haben, nachdem Johannes Dale wie schon bei der Staffel in Oberhof schw\u00e4chelte und einmal in die Strafrunde musste. Doch die Norweger konnten sich gl\u00fccklich sch\u00e4tzen die beiden Boe Br\u00fcder in ihren Reihen zu haben, die ihr Team wieder stark ins Renngeschehen zur\u00fcckbrachten und um den Sieg mitliefen. Doch Schlussl\u00e4ufer Johannes Thingnes Boe konnte in der Endphase dem Druck von Emilien Jacquelin nicht standhalten und musste sich knapp geschlagen geben. Der gleiche Einlauf um Platz eins und wie beim Staffelrennen in Oberhof. Team Russland um ihre beiden Topl\u00e4ufer Anton Babikov und Alexander Loginov, die bis zum letzten Wechsel in F\u00fchrung lagen, mussten dem hohen Tempo Tribut zollen, belegten aber einen verdienten dritten Platz. Das DSV Quartett, das lange um die Medaillen mitk\u00e4mpfte belegte Platz vier. F\u00fcr Team Norwegen war es nach Oberhof das n\u00e4chste Staffelrennen, das nicht gewonnen werden konnte. In der Besetzung Antonin Guigonnant, Quentin Fillon Mailett, Simon Desthieux und Emilien Jacquelin ist die franz\u00f6sische Staffel erster Anw\u00e4rter auf den Weltmeistertitel in Pokljuka und haushoher Favorit.<\/p>\n
