Good to know: Johannes Dale

Johannes Dale is back in the World Cup. After last season in the IBU Cup he was able to slowly build on his performance in the World Cup, the Norwegian is now back in the World Cup circus. We asked him how his summer was and why he started with biathlon.

How did you start with biathlon, did you do any other sports before that?

When I was little, I did something like soccer, but I actually started with biathlon right away because my father was also a biathlete and I wanted to emulate him, so it's a family sport. I started biathlon when I was ten and then I was on the shooting range for the first time. I remember the first time shooting the smell of the bullets and shooting in general, it was really cool for me back then.

What are your goals for next season?

My goal for the season is to qualify for the World Championships in Oberhof and do some good races there. I have already won medals once at a World Cup, so my goal is to repeat that. And then of course a few good World Cup results.

How was your summer?

I participated in the Blink Festival, but that didn't go so well. I fell right in the first corner in the first race and then I couldn't participate any further. But we also had Norwegian Championships, those went really well. I was able to win one gold and one silver medal, so that was a good weekend for me. I hope that now the winter season will be as successful.
