Four times zero: World Championship gold for Laegreid
He came – scored (four times) – and won. Norwegian newcomer Sturla Holm Laegreid celebrated his biggest success so far in his first World Cup season by winning the World Championship title in the 20 km individual race in Pokljuka. Unimpressed, he hit all 20 targets, ran another very strong race on the track and secured his first World Championship (individual) gold. Laegreid is thus the worthy successor of Martin Fourcade, who followed the race live in the stadium. There was a relieving liberation for the DSV team with the win of the silver medal by Arnd Peiffer, who was able to secure the first World Championship precious metal with a gap of 16.9 seconds and a faultless shooting performance as well. Johannes Dale, another Norwegian youngster, finished third with one shooting mistake and a very good running performance. Johannes Dale deservedly won the bronze medal. With this title, Sturla Holm Laegreid already secured the “small World Cup globe” in the individual discipline ahead of time. For Quentin Fillon Maillet, who once again delivered a top performance, it was enough for fourth place with two penalty minutes, Johannes Thingnes Boe became fifth with also two penalty minutes. Tarjei Boe was already out of the medals with three misses in the first shooting.

That was my day today, I felt good already in the morning. What a successful season for me, I will certainly only realize in a few weeks what I have achieved in my first season. I certainly won’t take off, keep both feet on the ground and keep working on myself.

Viermal Null: WM Gold für Laegreid
Er kam – traf (viermal) – und siegte. Seinen bislang größten Erfolg in seiner ersten Weltcup Saison feierte der norwegische Newcomer Sturla Holm Laegreid mit dem Gewinn des Weltmeistertitels im Einzelrennen über 20 km von Pokljuka. Unbeeindruckt traf er alle 20 Scheiben, lief auf der Strecke wieder ein sehr starkes Rennen und sicherte sich sein erstes WM-(Einzel)-Gold. Laegreid ist somit der würdige Nachfolger von Martin Fourcade, der das Rennen live im Stadion mitverfolgte. Einen erlösenden Befreiungsschlag gab es für den DSV mit dem Gewinn der Silbermedaille von Arnd Peiffer, der mit einem Rückstand von 16,9 Sekunden und einer ebenfalls fehlerfreien Schießleistung das erste WM-Edelmetall sichern konnte. Als Dritter ins Ziel schaffte es Johannes Dale, ein weiterer norwegischer Youngster, mit einem Schießfehler und einer sehr guten Laufleistung. Johannes Dale errang verdient die WM-Bronzemedaille. Mit dem WM-Titel sicherte sich Sturla Holm Laegreid bereits vorzeitig die „kleine Weltcup-Kugel“ in der Einzel-Disziplin. Für Quentin Fillon Maillet, der wieder einmal eine Topleistung ablieferte, langte es mit zwei Strafminuten zu Platz vier, Johannes Thingnes Boe wurde mit ebenfalls zwei Strafminuten WM-Fünfter. Tarjei Boe schoss sich bereits beim ersten Schießen mit drei Fehler aus den Medaillenrängen.

Das war heute mein Tag, ich habe mich schon morgens gut gefühlt. Was für eine erfolgreiche Saison für mich, ich werde es bestimmt erst in einigen Wochen begreifen was ich in meiner ersten Saison erreicht habe. Ich werde sicherlich nicht abheben, mit beiden beiden auf dem Boden bleiben und weiter an mir arbeiten.

Vor dem Rennen gab es für mich nur die Devise: Vollgas! – da ich noch etwas gutzumachen hatte. Jetzt habe ich WM-Bronze und bin sehr glücklich darüber.
